Class 11 Summary:

Images:

• control the size of an image using width and height properties in css.
  1. determine the sizes of images (small, medium, large) that will be used throught the site.
  2. give each size a name.
  3. add selectors for each of the class names then use the width & height css to control the image size.
• tow ways to align images:
  1. the float property to represent the image size.
  2. new classes are created used in addition to classes that indicate image size.

Centering Images Using CSS:

• Images are inline elements by default.to center an image it should be in a block using display property with a value of block.

• then use the text-align property with a value of center.or use the margin property and set the values of left & right to auto.

Background Images:

• background-image property used to place an image behind any HTML elemnt.

• after url letters we put the image path inside parentheses and quotes.

• example:
• background-image: url(“images/pattern.gif”);

Repeating Images:

• use repeat-x to repeat image horizontally .
• use repeat-y to repeat image vertically.
• no-repeat to show image once only.
• fixed to image stay in the same position
• scroll to make image move up and down.

Contrast of Background Images:

• The image must be low contrast in order for the text to be legible if we want to overlay text over image background.
